Widgets overview

Widgets let you put Sidedoor’s booking, events and voucher flows directly on your own website. A guest never has to leave your site - they book a table, grab an event ticket or buy a gift voucher inside an embedded panel that carries your branding.

You set widgets up under Settings → Marketing → Widgets.

The widget types

Note

The Vouchers widget requires gift vouchers to be switched on first. If they’re off you’ll be prompted to “Turn on gift vouchers in Settings → Vouchers before enabling the voucher widget.” See Gift vouchers.

Tip

If you turn on Live availability, the Bookings and All-in-one widgets show guests a Quiet / Busy / Full traffic-light chip on the first step - one more way to nudge them to book on a quieter night.

Enabling a widget and getting its code

Each widget type has an enable toggle. Once it’s on, open the Show widget code panel on that row to reveal two ways to use the widget, each with its own Copy button:

• Standalone - a hosted page at a stable URL of the form:

  https://thesidedoor.co/widget/<public_id>

  Share the link or open it in a new tab. There’s nothing to install on your own site.

• Embedded - a one-line <script> snippet you paste into your website’s HTML to show the widget inline on your page:

  <script src="https://thesidedoor.co/widget-embed.js?v=<tag>" data-sidedoor-widget="<public_id>" async></script>

  The panel fills in the exact snippet for you, so just copy it across.

The public_id is a fixed identifier for that widget, so both the URL and the snippet stay the same once created - you can embed it and forget it.

Tip

The in-portal preview you see beside the settings is the live widget itself - it’s the real thing rendered in a frame, not a mock-up. What you see is exactly what your guests will get.
