A tour of the portal
The client portal lives at thesidedoor.co/app/client. This page maps out how
it’s organised so you always know where you are and where to go next.
The header
Section titled “The header”The header stays with you everywhere and gives you quick access to:
- Back and the hamburger menu - move between the operator-wide and per-venue menus.
- Search - global search across the whole portal (see below).
- Inbox - pending bookings and orphaned reservations that need attention.
- Theme toggle - switch between light and dark.
- Cog - your account and security settings.
- Breadcrumbs and your name & role, so you can see your context at a glance.
The main menu (operator-wide)
Section titled “The main menu (operator-wide)”When you’re at /app/client you see the operator-wide menu. Everything here
spans all the venues you can access.
| Menu item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | Your operator-wide overview: venue count, total guests and recent guest activity. |
| Guests | The directory of everyone who has booked across your venues, with the social graph. |
| Bookings | Guest-list booking requests across your venues. |
| Reservations | The table-plan grid, defaulting to your active venue. |
| Events | Every event across your venues. |
| Venues | The list of your venues - create, drill in and manage each one. |
| Resources | A read-only help library of articles and guides. |
| Users | Your team and their roles. |
| Settings | Operator-level settings - operator info, key contacts and payments. |
| Sign Out | End your session. |
The per-venue context menu
Section titled “The per-venue context menu”Once you open a venue, the menu switches to that venue’s own context. The URLs
change to /app/client/v/{id}/{tab}.
| Menu item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Back | Return to the operator-wide menu. |
| Dashboard | The venue’s real analytics - 30-day KPIs, trends and current state. |
| Guests | Guests scoped to this venue. |
| Bookings | This venue’s guest-list bookings. |
| Reservations | This venue’s live table plan (Grid, Coverflow and List views). |
| Events | This venue’s events. |
| Vouchers | Gift vouchers - shared across sister venues in the same group. |
| Floorplan | A viewer of the room layout (the editor is under Settings → Tables). |
| Settings | Everything you configure for this venue. |
Global search
Section titled “Global search”Press Cmd/Ctrl + K anywhere to open global search. It searches across the whole portal and groups results so you can jump straight to what you need:
- Sections - portal areas and pages.
- Venues - your venues.
- Events - events across your venues.
- Guests - bookers in your directory.
- Team - your users.
The Inbox
Section titled “The Inbox”The Inbox in the header is your to-do list. It surfaces items that need a decision and refreshes itself automatically (about every 75 seconds), so you can keep it open on the pass:
- Pending bookings - guest-list requests waiting on your approval or rejection.
- Orphaned reservations - reservations that aren’t assigned to a table yet (the waitlist), so they don’t slip through the cracks.
From the Inbox you can jump straight to the relevant booking or reservation to deal with it.
Switching venues
Section titled “Switching venues”The portal remembers your active venue between sessions, so you return to where you left off. Use the venue switcher or open a different venue from the Venues list to change it. If a venue is part of a sister group, the relationship works both ways - see sister venues.
