Your account & security
Your personal account settings live behind the cog icon in the header. This is separate from your operator and venue settings - it’s about you and your own sign-in, not the business.
General preferences
Section titled “General preferences”The General tab holds your working preferences:
- Notifications - turn on push notifications for this device so you’re alerted when a guest replies in chat.
- Location - share this device’s location so it shows up under your staff devices.
On touchscreens you’ll also see a Display control to scale the interface up or down for easier tapping.
The theme (light or dark) is controlled from the toggle in the header rather than here.
Options
Section titled “Options”The Options tab holds preferences for the reservations grid:
- Reservations drag & drop - turn drag-and-drop on the reservations grid on or off. Handy if you work on a touchscreen and want to avoid moving tables by accident. When it’s on, a Require confirmation for drag & drop sub-option asks you to confirm before a move takes effect, so you don’t reschedule a table by mistake.
- Hide closed hours - show the grid only from 15 minutes before your earliest shift opens to 15 minutes after your latest shift closes, instead of the full day. Closed hours a reservation runs into still show, and so do any closed gaps between shifts (for example, between lunch and dinner), shaded grey. Off by default. A venue with no shifts set up always shows the full day.
Profile
Section titled “Profile”The Profile tab is where you keep your own details up to date:
- Name
- Phone
- Address
- Date of birth
Security
Section titled “Security”The Security tab is where you lock down your account.
Two-factor authentication
Section titled “Two-factor authentication”Add a second step to your sign-in with two-factor authentication (2FA) using a TOTP authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator, Authy or 1Password):
- In Security → Two-factor, start setup.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app.
- Enter the 6-digit code it shows to verify and enable 2FA.
You can disable 2FA again from the same place.
Screen Lock
Section titled “Screen Lock”Screen Lock guards the portal on a shared or front-of-house device by locking the screen when it’s left idle:
- Turn on Enable screen lock to have the portal lock automatically after about 5 minutes of inactivity.
- Use Lock now to lock it straight away when you step away from the device.
To unlock, use your device biometrics (such as Face ID or fingerprint) where available, or fall back to your Device PIN.
This is ideal for a tablet on the pass or door that several people share.
Device PIN
Section titled “Device PIN”Your Device PIN is a 4-6 digit code used to unlock the screen lock. Set it during onboarding, and change it any time from Security → Device PIN: enter your New PIN, confirm it, and choose Change PIN.
Guest and business accounts
Section titled “Guest and business accounts”Your business account (the one you sign in with here, in the client portal) is separate from any guest account you might have with the same email address, for example if you also book as a guest at other venues. The two don’t share a password, and changing your email only needs to be unique among accounts of the same kind, so your business and guest accounts can use the same address without conflict.
If you enter a guest account’s password on this sign-in page (or a business account’s password on the guest app or main site), you’ll see a message telling you which kind of account it is, with a link across to the right portal. There’s also a “Guest account?” link next to the sign-in and forgot-password forms if you want to switch over yourself.
Changing your password
Section titled “Changing your password”Change your password from Security → Change Password while you’re signed in. Enter your current password, then your new password (at least 8 characters) twice to confirm, and save.
If you’ve forgotten your password and can’t sign in, use the forgot password link on the login page instead: Sidedoor emails you a secure link to set a new one, opening on the client portal.
Notifications
Section titled “Notifications”The Notifications tab is where you choose, for yourself, which staff alerts reach you about each of your venues, and how.
If you work across more than one venue, pick a venue from the picker at the top first (or choose All venues to set every venue the same way at once). Each notification type then shows two checkboxes, Email and App push: tick either or both to receive it that way, or leave both blank to turn it off. A checkbox at the top of each column selects (or clears) every row in that column in one go. Everything starts off - turn on what you want to receive.
Notification types are grouped:
| Group | Types |
|---|---|
| Reservations | Guest cancels a booking, Guest edits a booking, Staff cancel a booking, Staff edit a booking |
| Daily and weekly reports | Daily reservation summary, End of day report, Daily guest satisfaction, Weekly report |
| Alerts | Business alerts |
| Finance | Payout breakdown |
A type only shows up here if your role is allowed to receive that kind of information. If your role isn’t allowed to receive any of them, the tab tells you so and points you to an admin to change it under Access → Roles → Notifications.
When an alert goes to more than one person, everyone gets their own separate email. Sidedoor never CCs, so nobody on the list sees anyone else’s address.
What each report tells you
Section titled “What each report tells you”- Daily reservation summary - sent at the start of your venue’s first shift each day (7am if the venue has no shifts set up). Covers today’s reservations for All areas, then each seating area on its own: total, advance and same-day bookings, walk-ins (split into no-wait and seated from the waitlist), cancellations (split into advance and same-day), no-shows and waitlist abandons. A booking counts as a walk-in if it’s logged as one, seated straight from the waitlist, or made by staff no more than 15 minutes before its own start time.
- End of day report - sent about 30 minutes after your venue’s last shift ends (it waits a little longer if guests are still seated). Takings, covers, service, voucher sales and tomorrow’s bookings, compared with the same day last week and last year.
- Daily guest satisfaction - sent at 8am, with the last 24 hours of guest feedback: overall star rating, any category ratings and recommend answer your venue asks for, and comments.
- Weekly report - sent Monday at 8am: a headline verdict, covers and revenue against the week before, a daily chart, a few insights and an outlook for the coming week.
- Business alerts - sent as soon as something in your numbers (covers, no-shows, revenue) takes a significant turn for the worse.
- Payout breakdown - sent whenever Stripe pays out to your bank: what the payout is made up of (sales by type, refunds, chargebacks and platform fees), as totals only. One email per payout account, covering every venue paid into it.
Unsubscribing
Section titled “Unsubscribing”Every one of these emails carries an unsubscribe link, and works with your inbox’s own “Unsubscribe” button too (Gmail and Outlook both show one). Using either turns off that one type of email, for that one venue, straight away - there’s no confirmation step. Your app push choice for that type is untouched, and you can always turn the email back on from this tab.
